- Age, a maker's mark, unusual workmanship, or a complete matching set are the usual signs. We separate anything like that out and tell you before discussing a figure, because melting a piece that had collector value is not reversible. If we think you should try an antiques dealer first, we will say so.
- Do you buy silver as well as gold?
- Yes — sterling, coins and flatware. Silver is where the intact-versus-melt question comes up most often, particularly with complete flatware services and marked hollowware. Bring it unpolished; polishing removes metal and can damage marks that matter.
- How far is it from Dania Beach?

- Do I need an appointment?
