Regulation
What the Law Requires of Us
Buying precious metals in Florida is a licensed activity with real rules attached. Knowing them before you arrive saves a wasted trip — and tells you something about any buyer who ignores them.
No appointment needed. No obligation to sell.
Live metal market
This is the market your offer is calculated against — not a chart printed last week. Your items are tested and weighed at the counter, and the arithmetic is done in front of you.

Bring valid photo ID
A driver's licence, state ID card, or passport. It must be current and it must be yours. We take a copy and record the transaction because the statute obliges us to, at both counters, for any amount. There is no threshold below which this stops applying.
If a buyer offers to skip this
Take it as information. A dealer willing to break the recording rules for you is a dealer who breaks rules, and you are about to hand them something valuable on trust.
Why the rules exist
The recording and holding requirements exist because stolen property historically moved through metals buyers. The paperwork is what makes it traceable, and the holding period is what gives an owner time to find their property before it is melted. It is inconvenient for honest sellers and it is the reason the trade is worth trusting at all.
Selling from an estate
Bring whatever shows you are entitled to dispose of the property — letters of administration, a will, or a court appointment. Executors and personal representatives sell metal here regularly and it is straightforward, but the authority has to be documented. If you are not sure what you have, call (866) 904-3502 before you make the drive.

FAQ
Common questions
- Why do you need my ID?
- Because Florida law requires it. A licensed precious metals dealer must record every purchase and take a copy of the seller's valid government-issued photo identification. This is not a company policy we could waive.
- Can I sell anonymously?
- No. Not here and not at any licensed dealer in Florida. A buyer who offers to skip the paperwork is telling you something about how they operate.
- Is there a minimum age?
- Yes. You must be 18 or older to sell precious metals in Florida.
- Can I sell something that is not in my name?
- You must be entitled to sell it. For an estate, bring the paperwork showing you have authority to dispose of the property. If you are unsure, call before you drive over.
- Do you report the sale to anyone?
- Transaction records are kept as the statute requires and are available to law enforcement. That is how the licensing regime works and it is the same for every licensed dealer.
- Is there a holding period?
- Yes. Florida requires secondhand dealers to hold purchased items for a set period before they can be resold or melted. It is one reason a licensed dealer is a slower but safer place to sell.
