Before you leave the house
- Bring valid photo ID. There are no exceptions to this.
- Do not sort or clean anything. Tarnish does not change the metal.
- Bring the whole box, including what you assume is junk.
- Call ahead if the lot is large so the cash is ready.
Route
The trip from Oakland Park
Getting to us
East on Oakland Park Boulevard to the beach, then north on A1A. This is the approach we suggest during season, when A1A north of Sunrise backs up badly and the boulevard stays moving.
What that distance means
At around nine minutes this is an easy return trip. Gather anything gold-colored rather than pre-judging it — plated and filled pieces are common in mixed lots and testing is the only way to separate them, which costs you nothing.
The local picture
Selling gold in Oakland Park
About twelve minutes, straight in on Oakland Park Boulevard. The corridor between here and the coast carries the highest concentration of retail gold buying in this part of the county — the signs you pass on the way in are largely pawn and cash-for-gold storefronts. It is worth understanding what that means. Those businesses are lending operations and quick-turn resellers first; buying metal is a way to acquire inventory cheaply enough to resell it locally. That is a legitimate business model. It is simply not the same one as a dealer refining and selling into the wholesale market.
What Oakland Park sellers usually bring
Gold Jewelry
Chains, rings and odd earrings tested for karat at the counter, weighed in front of you, priced on the live market.

Gold Coins & Bullion
Eagles, Maples, Krugerrands and refiner bars verified while you wait, with anything worth more than melt flagged first.
Explore →
Silver
Bars, rounds, junk coin and sterling flatware tested piece by piece, so a genuine set never leaves valued as plate.
Explore →
Estate & Inherited Metal
Bring the box unsorted. Everything is separated and valued item by item, with a written breakdown for the family.
Explore →
Dental Gold
Crowns and bridges tested for what they actually contain, palladium and silver included, with no cleaning needed first.
Explore →
Platinum & Palladium
Platinum is easily mistaken for white gold. We test for it specifically and price both metals on their own markets.

FAQ
Common questions
- Why would a pawn shop offer less than you?
- Because they are pricing for a different exit. A pawn shop expects to resell the piece retail, locally, over an unknown period, and prices in that risk and that holding time. We sell metal into the wholesale refining market on a short cycle, so the margin we need is smaller. Neither is dishonest — they are different businesses.
- Should I get a pawn offer first for comparison?
- Genuinely, yes, and we will not be offended. Getting a second figure is the only way to know your first one was fair, and a seller who has shopped around is easier to deal with than one who is guessing. Bring the other number with you.
- How far is it from Oakland Park?
- About 9 minutes to our Fort Lauderdale counter, traffic depending. Season adds to that on the coastal roads.
- Do I need an appointment?
- No. Walk in during business hours. If you are bringing a large estate lot, call first so we have the cash and a second tester ready.
- What do I need to bring?
- Valid government-issued photo ID. Florida law requires a dealer to record every purchase and take a copy of your ID, with no exceptions.
- Can I get a number before I drive over?
- Email photos to info@sygusa.com and we will tell you what it looks like and what the range depends on. A real figure still needs the items on the scale.
