Selling gold and silver in Broward County

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk in during business hours at either counter. Call ahead only for a large estate lot, so the cash and a second tester are ready.

What do I need to bring?

Valid government-issued photo ID, and you must be 18 or older. Florida law requires a licensed dealer to record every purchase and take a copy of your ID, at any amount.

Is the valuation free?

Yes, and there is no obligation. Take the number to another buyer and come back if ours is better. People walk out with their metal regularly.

How do you work out the number?

Purity, weight in troy units, and the live spot price at that moment. Each figure is shown to you as it goes in.

Do you pay full spot?

No, and no buyer does. There is a refining cost and a margin between what a buyer pays and what the metal fetches. Anyone claiming to pay full spot is leaving something out.

Do I need to know the karat?

No. Every piece is tested at the counter. We do not read the stamp and take its word for it, because stamps wear, and occasionally lie.

Do you buy broken jewelry?

Yes. Condition is irrelevant to metal value. Bring the tangled pile and the single earrings.

What about stones?

Stones are not gold and are not paid for as gold. We identify them, exclude them from the weight, and can usually remove and return them.

Should I clean or polish anything first?

No. Tarnish does not change the metal, and polishing can remove weight or damage a piece that was worth more intact.

Will you tell me not to sell something?

Yes, when it is true. A coin with a collector premium, a signed designer piece, or a watch worth more as a watch — we say so before buying it as metal.

Can I sell for someone else?

Only if you are entitled to. For an estate, bring documents showing your authority to dispose of the property. Call first if you are unsure.

How am I paid, and when?

Same day. Ask about the payment method when you arrive so there are no surprises at the end of the process.

How long does it take?

Twenty minutes for a handful of pieces. An hour or more for a full estate lot, because every item is tested individually.

Do you buy silver flatware?

Yes. Sterling is worth testing rather than assuming it is plate — the marks are easy to misread, and mid-century sets turn up in Broward estates constantly.

Do you buy watches?

We do, but for most branded watches you should not sell to a metals buyer. A Rolex is worth far more as a watch than as gold, and we will tell you so.

Can I mail it in?

We are licensed as a mail-in dealer, so yes. We will still say that being present while your metal is tested is worth more than the convenience. If you can drive, drive.
