How it works
Nothing Happens Out of Your Sight
Every step below happens at the counter, with you watching. That is the whole difference between a metals buyer and a mystery.
No appointment needed. No obligation to sell.
Live metal market
This is the market your offer is calculated against — not a chart printed last week. Your items are tested and weighed at the counter, and the arithmetic is done in front of you.

Six steps
01
You empty the bag on the counter
Do not sort it first and do not clean anything. Tarnish comes off, plate does not become gold, and a piece you think is worthless is often not. We work through it item by item with you standing there.
02
Everything gets tested where you can see it
Acid testing for karat, or XRF where it is the better tool. Nothing goes into a back room. If a piece is plated or base metal, we show you the test result rather than just telling you.
03
It is weighed on a scale you can read
Precious metals are weighed in troy ounces or pennyweight, not the ounces on a kitchen scale. The display faces you. Stones, clasps and non-precious parts are identified and taken out of the weight.
04
The arithmetic is done in front of you
Weight, purity, and the live spot price at that moment. You see each number that goes into the total. If a piece is worth more than melt, we say so before we buy it as scrap.
05
You decide, and you can leave with everything
Take the number to another buyer and come back if ours is better. Nobody here will push you, and nothing has been sent anywhere. The metal is still on the counter.
06
Paid, and recorded as Florida requires
Same day. We take a copy of your photo ID and record the transaction because state law requires it of every licensed precious metals dealer.
The awkward part
What we will tell you that costs us money
If a coin carries a collector premium above its melt value, we say so, because buying it as scrap would be taking that premium from you. If a watch is worth more as a watch than as gold, we say that too. If a designer piece would do better with a jeweller, we will point you at one. We would rather lose a transaction than have you find out afterwards.
FAQ
Common questions
- How long does it take?
- A handful of pieces is usually twenty minutes. A full estate lot can take an hour or more, because every item is tested individually. Call ahead for a large lot.
- Do I have to sell if I come in?
- No. A valuation is free and there is no obligation attached to it. People walk out with their metal regularly and that is fine.
- Can I watch the testing?
- Yes, and we would rather you did. The whole point of a counter is that nothing happens out of your sight.
- How am I paid?
- Same day. Ask about the payment method when you come in so there are no surprises at the end.
- What if I only have one small item?
- That is fine. There is no minimum. Be honest with yourself about the drive though — for a single thin chain, the petrol may matter.
